Job Description

Join a global bulk materials handling solutions leader, with clients across the mining and resources, construction, manufacturing, agriculture and transportation sectors. The business has a strong growth trajectory and now requires a Senior Research and Development (R&D) Digital Engineer to drive the execution of key digital and systems R&D projects, which will have an impact both in Australia and internationally.

Forming part of the business’ Global Centre for Excellence in Mining, this position is based at their Hunter Valley facility and plays a critical role in the R&D team, responsible for executing cutting-edge projects across the business’ product lines, including screening, feeders, train loading and drives. Joining a highly skilled team, you will provide leadership and mentoring to a small team of experienced R&D Engineers, whilst remaining technically hands-on in the successful delivery of key R&D projects.

Engaging with key stakeholders across the business as well as within the broader R&D team, you will work with your team on the digital and systems aspects of a broad range of R&D projects, ensuring the end user is front of mind. Projects will include both entirely new products, as well as existing product upgrades, with key focus areas being the ongoing digitisation of their product line, adapting existing technology into their products and automating equipment performance. This will have outcomes not only for their Australian business, but also their businesses internationally.

As this is a highly technical role, it is essential that you hold an Engineers Australia recognised degree in either electrical or mechatronics engineering, with the ability to register as an engineer in NSW and QLD. You will have strong technical experience in design engineering and product development, with a focus on digital/systems development and automation, ideally within mining or heavy industry environments. As the opportunity has a focus on team leadership, along with your technical skill set, you will have demonstrated experience in managing or mentoring other engineers. The business also strongly supports career development, so an individual who is keen to further progress their own career will be well received.

In return for your ability to contribute to the R&D team and broader business you will be able to grow your career with one of the global market leaders in the industry, be part of a diverse operation committed to safety and governance standards and be rewarded for your successes.
