Established in 1889, the Port of Broome has supported WA’s North West livestock exports, offshore oil and gas activities, pearling, fishing and charter boat work, cruise liner tourism and government vessel visits. Broome is the main break bulk, fuel and container terminal for the Kimberley and a support base for the Browse Basin. Kimberley Ports Authority (KPA) is a Government Trading Enterprise which is governed by the Port Authorities Act 1999 (WA).
Reporting to the CFO, and working closely with key members of the management team, you will provide procurement expertise to ensure KPA secures quality goods whilst adhering to KPA’S procurement strategy, policy and procedures. The role will ensure all documentation (e.g. contracts, tenders and proposals) adhere to KPA’s procurement guidelines and that the exposure to risk is managed. You will review KPA’s procurement requirements, implement more efficient processes and facilitate commercial negotiations with external parties. You will also contribute to the development of strategic and operational plans and policies.
To be successful in this role will be tertiary qualified, with a preference for inclusion of law units in your degree. You will have significant experience in contact administration and procurement in an industrial environment, and have a background in the preparation, review and management of commercial contracts. Your sound commercial judgement and commercial acumen will be matched by strong analytical and organisational skills. Experience in working with government agencies and ministerial offices will be well regarded.
