Job Description

  • Are you looking to take the next step in procurement ?
  • Excellent 2IC opportunity in an established business
  • Career scope only limited by your ambition

This organisation is a leading player in a niche channel within the hire/rental industry and has branches throughout Australia and NZ.  They sell, hire and can customise refurbished shipping containers primarily for use in the transport, storage, mining, building and construction sectors. Continued growth and expansion has led to the need for a 2IC in their head office supply chain team supporting the GM who heads up this business unit across APAC. Do you think you have what it takes ?

Your mandate revolves around ensuring that there is sufficient availability of containers available to the network of branches across APAC, to oversee the timely purchase and collection of new and used containers from 3rd party suppliers (a significant number of which are international), and lastly to accurately monitor and oversee purchase orders in the CRM system. You will also be accountable for the preparation and submission of purchasing budgets which will essentially underpin the abovementioned objectives. This role is a critical position within the supply chain team because it is accountable for the overall efficiency of container supply to customers, as well as preventing the occurrence of having too much stock sitting idle which otherwise impacts on the cost of asset management. You will essentially be supporting the GM across the whole Supply Chain team, so we seek candidates with strong leadership and/or mentoring capability.

The successful candidate will likely have at least 4-5 years experience in a procurement / supply chain / inventory type role and ideally some supervisory experience. Of importance is exposure to overseas as well as local purchasing, dealing direct with suppliers and negotiating terms. You must be able to demonstrate strong analytical and negotiation skills in addition to budget preparation and management. Time management, problem solving skills and attention to detail - as well as a  capability to multitask is required. In return the role offers a competitive base salary commensurate with experience and superannuation  - but the REAL opportunity here is the chance to progress your career and become an important member of a growing team. Career progression is literally limited by your ambition.
