Reporting to the Engineering Manager the role is responsible for engineering / design through to end product, including revisions and modifications, for heavy duty trailer axles; suspensions; braking systems as well as other ancillary trailer equipment in order that the equipment supplied is suitable for Australasian conditions. Critical to the function is the maintenance of up to date technical drawings / models including distribution internally (intra and interstate) as well as direct to customers. The nature of the work includes a full range of design and detailing from carrying out design layouts through to individual parts’ drawings for manufacture and supporting technical documentation. Some periodic test work would also be involved and whilst not critical to the role, exposure to pneumatics and possibly the electrical side would be of benefit. You will also be expected to discuss Engineering related matters with internal and external stakeholders.
Possessing strong communication skills, enabling interpretation of customer requirements and appropriate technical guidance, you will thrive on the exposure offered in this area. Your capacity to respond quickly to customer needs and to draw on practical experiences gained will fit well in the role. Proficient use of a 3D design software package is required, in ACAD (Mechanical desktop) and 3D design software package (Inventor) is preferred but not essential. You will enjoy creating 3D models, 2D drawings including involvement in company brochure and parts’ lists catalogues. Advanced office based computer skills are mandatory.
It would be preferable you hold a Mechanical Engineering qualification supported by a minimum 2-3 years experience.
